Ring Cycle - Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen
More than a century ago, Wagner conceived his epic four-opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen as a festival event that completely took over the city of Bayreuth, Germany.
LA Opera has joined forces with Los Angeles’ cultural and educational institutions to stage the first significant citywide cultural festival since the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival.
For the first staging of Wagner’s complete Ring Cycle in LA, Plácido Domingo
brings together two extraordinary artists: visionary visual artist
Achim Freyer to design and direct the production for the first time and LA Opera Music Director
James Conlon, who conducts his first American Ring Cycle.
The result will be the most vivid and dazzling production of these four operas you will ever experience!
To bring Wagner’s and Achim Freyer’s visions to life, Plácido Domingo has assembled an international cast of great Wagnerians including himself (Siegmund), Vitalij Kowaljow (Wotan), Linda Watson (Brünnhilde), John Treleaven (Siegfried), Martina Serafin (Sieglinde), Michelle DeYoung (Fricka) and others.
